The geo­log­i­cal and mine sur­vey­ing ser­vice is one of the most impor­tant com­po­nents of a min­ing enterprise’s oper­a­tional struc­ture. In accor­dance with Order of the Min­istry of Eco­nom­ic Devel­op­ment, Trade and Agri­cul­ture of Ukraine No. 669 dat­ed 31.03.2021 “On Approval of the Rules for Per­form­ing Mine Sur­vey­ing Works dur­ing the Devel­op­ment of Ore and Non-Ore Min­er­al Deposits”, min­ing enter­pris­es must have a mine sur­vey­ing ser­vice staffed with qual­i­fied spe­cial­ists and equipped with the nec­es­sary instru­ments and tools for pro­cess­ing and repro­duc­ing geo­log­i­cal and mine sur­vey­ing doc­u­men­ta­tion. How­ev­er, for deposits devel­oped by open-pit min­ing, mine sur­vey­ing sup­port may be per­formed by third-par­ty enti­ties on the basis of an appro­pri­ate agree­ment.

The Insti­tute of Geol­o­gy holds all the required per­mits, employs qual­i­fied spe­cial­ists, and pos­sess­es mod­ern mine sur­vey­ing equip­ment to pro­vide pro­fes­sion­al geo­log­i­cal and mine sur­vey­ing sup­port for your enter­prise.

• devel­op­ment of mine sur­vey­ing and geo­det­ic con­trol net­works;
• tacheo­met­ric sur­veys and prepa­ra­tion of graph­i­cal doc­u­men­ta­tion reflect­ing the cur­rent state of min­ing oper­a­tions;
• prepa­ra­tion of geo­log­i­cal doc­u­men­ta­tion describ­ing the occur­rence of min­er­als and host rocks;
• account­ing of reserves con­di­tion and move­ment, record­ing of in-situ loss­es, prepa­ra­tion of report­ing doc­u­men­ta­tion, and devel­op­ment of min­ing oper­a­tion pro­grams;
• mine sur­vey­ing sup­port for waste dump for­ma­tion and recla­ma­tion of lands dis­turbed by min­ing;
• mon­i­tor­ing of defor­ma­tions of mine work­ings;
• con­trol of com­pli­ance with geo­met­ric para­me­ters of bench­es, slopes, pit walls, and haul roads in accor­dance with the min­ing project and annu­al pro­duc­tion plan;
• con­trol of com­pli­ance with tech­ni­cal bound­aries of the sub­soil plot and min­ing and land allot­ments;
• account­ing of min­er­al extrac­tion vol­umes and mea­sure­ment of remain­ing stock­piles at stor­age facil­i­ties;
• main­te­nance and updat­ing of logs and reg­is­ters of geo­log­i­cal and mine sur­vey­ing con­trol.

Dur­ing sur­veys, our spe­cial­ists use mod­ern mine sur­vey­ing equip­ment and licensed (cer­ti­fied) soft­ware. Sur­vey works are car­ried out using tacheo­met­ric meth­ods and drone-based aer­i­al sur­veys. Cal­cu­la­tion of extract­ed mate­r­i­al vol­umes is per­formed using hor­i­zon­tal cross-sec­tions, par­al­lel geo­log­i­cal pro­files, or 3D mod­el­ing.

Dur­ing min­ing oper­a­tions, geol­o­gists of the Insti­tute of Geol­o­gy con­duct detailed addi­tion­al stud­ies of the litho­log­i­cal and pet­ro­graph­ic com­po­si­tion of the min­er­al, inves­ti­gate its struc­ture and tex­ture, frac­tur­ing, degree of weath­er­ing, and oth­er char­ac­ter­is­tics. Clas­si­fi­ca­tion and sam­pling are car­ried out in accor­dance with State Stan­dards (DSTU), fol­lowed by sub­mis­sion of sam­ples to pro­cess­ing enter­pris­es for tech­no­log­i­cal test­ing and lab­o­ra­to­ry analy­sis.

In addi­tion, the respon­si­bil­i­ties of geol­o­gists include con­tin­u­ous con­trol and super­vi­sion of prop­er min­ing prac­tices and ratio­nal use of explo­sives. Geol­o­gists are also respon­si­ble for clas­si­fi­ca­tion and selec­tion of sam­ples in com­pli­ance with State Stan­dards (DSTU) and their sub­mis­sion to pro­cess­ing enter­pris­es for tech­no­log­i­cal tests and lab­o­ra­to­ry stud­ies. Thus, the комплекс of field, lab­o­ra­to­ry, and office works offered by the Insti­tute of Geol­o­gy ensures accu­rate account­ing of min­er­al reserves and loss­es dur­ing extrac­tion and stor­age.

The annu­al result of our work is a “Min­ing Oper­a­tions Plan” approved by the State Labor Ser­vice, an updat­ed set of min­ing and graph­i­cal doc­u­men­ta­tion (bench-by-bench min­ing plans, sec­tions, haul road pro­files, etc.), and annu­al report­ing pre­pared and sub­mit­ted to the State Ser­vice of Geol­o­gy and Sub­soil of Ukraine (Form 5‑GR cer­tifi­cate, min­er­al reserve write-off act, and cer­tifi­cate on imple­men­ta­tion of the work pro­gram).
